It was then that something odd happened….
- As the smoke cleared and the guns fell silent, a bright light arose from a smoldering shell hole. An angel.
- The solid oak door began to open with a monstrous groan. As their eyes adjusted to the darkness the children realized however that there was no one on the other side to open it…
- The monstrous waves began to calm as though someone had hushed them off to sleep. They were safe again for now.
- Peter felt weak as a hush descended over the crowd of protesters. He had heard the echo of a gunshot fading off the high rise buildings and looked down to see the red mark appearing on his white shirt.
- As if by magic Henry’s Aunt had returned, pizza in hand. He was wrong. Maybe she wasn’t that bad.
- The branches of one of the bristly fir trees began to part and out marched a figure barely two feet tall. A real life elf.
- Stephanie’s boss returned with the dreaded white envelope clenched in his fist, but instead of thrusting it into her hand he slipped it into his jacket pocket.
- Roberts confidence seeped away as she approached leaving him red in the face and unable to walk through sheer panic.
It was already midnight when Sam sauntered up to the gates of The Tower of London which stood, decrepit and weathered, pointing up at the ominous black abyss of the night sky. As the new night guard Sam would have to get used to this, however the moaning of the wind made him think otherwise. This tourist attraction had not been so attractive to the many hundreds who suffered within its walls, their souls forever trapped within. Sam sat back in the guard booth and tuned in on the wireless radio that was left for him. It was going to be a long night. His nerves began to ease as the music filled the hut. He watched the lights of London pass by and actually began to think about what a great job he had gotten- all until something began to tap on the window behind him. He froze. What or who could still be on the other side of the gate. Sam turned slowly and just caught view of the giant black bird that had spread its wings and begun to fly way making him recoil in terror. What was that…?
Moaning wind noise to be played in the background
The warm the light of the sun caressed the land as James stepped out of his car and onto the noisy shingle of the car park. It was a beautiful summer’s day and everyone was out enjoying the bountiful joys of the countryside. There was one spectacle however that attracted the most visitors. Stone Henge. The mysterious yet mesmerizing icon of the British Isles. Casting a great shadow over the field whilst basking in the sun’s rays, it looked magical. James pulled on his walking boots and swept up towards the ancient monument gazing at it in awe all the way.

general notes to all students
Just a reminder that you must upload all updated proposals by the end of this week for me to look over and sanction – this is part of the assessment criteria.
Also, can you please make sure all blog posts are up to date with regards the sessions on the walk: that includes all the free writing exercises and pre-production exercise such as looking at settings; the discussion and research into audio, visual and interactive and any other exercise we have done such as strong verbs and interviewing techniques, genre conventions and anything else you have done preparing for the project. This too must be done by the end of the week if possible.
Make sure you put the session into a context: the purpose of session, the reasons why we did exercises – how it will impact on your narratives, the reading and research you have done into your areas and why?
Please keep on top of all the work – and make sure you refer to any notes and comments/feedback I have given you in the blogs and the assessment sheets.
I want to see first drafts of the narratives by next week also ready to practise and experiment with the audio.
